Some Cocktails and Drinks to Try in Mexico

--

Travelers to Mexico may taste some of the country’s best beverages and cocktails. Traditional Mexican beverages and cocktails go well beyond the iconic margarita, and there’s no better time to give them a try than while on vacation.

Mexico’s drinks are just as vibrant and diverse. Here are a few popular ones most visitors try:

Paloma
The Paloma is Mexico’s most well-known drink. The Paloma, made with tequila, grapefruit soda, and lime. It is super-refreshing on those warm days.

Chavela
The chavela combines the tastes of a michelada and a margarita in one glass, consisting of beer, tequila, tomato juice, spicy sauce, and lemon.

Michelada
Micheladas may be made with a variety of components, but the foundation is any Mexican beer of choice, lime juice, and a mix of seasoned salt and chilies. Tomato juice or clam juice are two more typical ingredients. I have to admit that I have to be in the right mood for this one.

Kahlúa
Kahlúa is the basis for many classic drinks, including the White Russian, and is made using Arabica coffee beans. Kahlúa is so popular in Mexico that February 27th is designated as National Kahlúa Day. It is perfect for making a Mexican coffee, similar in concept to an Irish coffee.
